Who We Are

We are the Tau Gamma chapter of Phi Theta Kappa here at Northampton Community College. Phi Theta Kappa is an international honor society for two year colleges. Students who are full time or part time and meet the eligibility requirements are allowed to pursue induction into Phi Theta Kappa. Members of the honors society achieve excellence in the classroom as well as volunteer at a variety of college and community events throughout the year.

 

Phi Theta Kappa's Mission

The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and encourage scholarship among two-year college students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall provide opportunity for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively fellowship for scholars, and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

 

Basic Requirements For Pursuing Membership

Full Time Students: Must have a 3.50 Cumulative college level GPA, be enrolled in an Associate Degree Program, and have earned 12 or more college level credits at NCC.

Part Time Students: Must have a 3.50 Cumulative college level GPA, be enrolled in an Associate Degree Program, and have earned 15 or more college level credits at NCC.
